Extracting Flames the Easy Way in Photoshop

Add your flame image to Photoshop
Step 1: Choose Channel > Select the Red channel in the Channels Panel.
Step 2: Click on Red channel and hold while clicking on the Control button.
Step 3: You now have a selected object (flame with marching ants).
Step 4: Click Control + J to create it’s own layer.
Step 8: Choose Edit > Copy to copy the currently selected content to the clipboard.
Step 5: Choose Layer > New > Layer to add a new layer to the image. Click OK to apply the changes. Step 6: Choose Edit > Paste to paste a cut or copied selection.
Step 9: Choose Layer > Matting > Remove Black Matte to remove black matte pixels.
Step 11: Choose Layer > New > Layer via Copy to create a layer from copied data.
Step 12: Select “Layer 1” in the Layers Panel.
Step 13: Shift click the “Layer 1 copy 2” layer in the Layers Panel to select additional layers.
Step 14: Choose Layer > Merge Layers to merge the selected layer with the one below it, or merge selected layers together.
